"Old Salt" has stood watch at the corner of Route 20 and Main Street for many years, a treasured reminder of Rock Hall's maritime past, present, and future. Time and weather took their toll on "Old Salt", so Main Street Rock Hall used grant money from the Maryland Department of Community Development to hire a local artist to restore and preserve this cherished Rock Hall landmark.
Main Street Rock Hall, with funding provided by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is happy to be able to support several building improvement projects in 2023. Six business, located in the Main Street corridor, will be splitting a total of $25,000 in grant funding.
Main Street Rock Hall was awarded a $40,000 Facade Improvement grant in FY 2020. These monies were awarded by the State Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Legacy Program. Funds were distributed among six different Main Street corridor businesses. Projects undertaken ranged from new roofs to fresh paint.
